Skyland Trail’s J. Rex Fuqua Campus is an unlocked adolescent psychiatric residential setting for ages 14 to 17 in Atlanta, Georgia. The campus combines the 26-room Glenn Family Residence Hall with an adjacent clinical and academic building, providing round-the-clock support in a school-like environment rather than a locked hospital.
Clinical care
Each teen receives a diagnostic assessment and individualized plan. Treatment may use CBT or DBT tracks, individual therapy, psychiatry, family therapy, group work, psychological testing, prolonged-exposure therapy for eligible trauma presentations and dual-diagnosis education for mild-to-moderate co-occurring substance use. Fitness, nutrition, art, music, recreation and academic support are integrated into the residential schedule.
Residence and campus
The residence hall has 26 private bedrooms with private bathrooms, a common living area and nurses’ station. The adjacent clinical building includes therapy rooms, classrooms, a learning lab, fitness studio, dining hall and recreation areas. Outdoor spaces include gardens, walking trails, a sports pavilion and outdoor learning and fitness areas.
Admissions and continuing care
Admission is voluntary and requires the adolescent and family to participate positively in treatment. The published residential stay is approximately 12 weeks; suitable clients may then step down to adolescent day treatment while living at home.
