Care at Abbeycare Scotland

Abbeycare Scotland occupies Erskine Mains House in Erskine, west of Glasgow. The residential centre provides medically supported drug and alcohol detoxification and a structured rehabilitation programme for adults. It is a distinct campus from Abbeycare’s English locations.

Care and treatment

Admissions are assessed individually, with medical and nursing input where withdrawal management is needed. The programme may include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), group and individual sessions, psychoeducation, relapse-prevention work, 12-Step-informed activities and family support. Round-the-clock nursing is available on the residential unit. A stay of about 28 days is common in the provider’s programme, but detox requirements, clinical progress and funding can change the recommendation.

Accommodation

The centre has up to 34 individual bedrooms with en-suite facilities. Clients should still confirm availability, accessibility, dietary needs and any rules concerning devices or valuables before arrival. Erskine Mains House offers shared therapy and living spaces in a private residential environment, while the daily routine remains structured around treatment.

Admissions questions

Provide an accurate account of current alcohol or drug use, previous withdrawal complications, physical and mental-health conditions and prescribed medication. Ask whether the centre can safely manage the anticipated detox, what assessments are required, what the quote includes, and whether funding or insurance authorisation is available. Confirm arrival transport, family contact, belongings, smoking policy, and what happens if a higher level of medical care is required.

Aftercare

Aftercare and relapse-prevention planning form part of the pathway. The discharge plan may include counselling, mutual-aid groups, recovery-community contact, medication follow-up or referral to local services. Prospective clients should ask how long Abbeycare’s aftercare continues, whether it is remote or in person, and how responsibility transfers to community clinicians.
