Understanding program costs

A headline fee is only useful when you know what it covers. A daily rate, a four-week program and a series of outpatient appointments describe different purchases.

Request a written estimate

Ask for the expected duration, billing basis and included services. Clarify whether assessment, medication, tests, family sessions and continuing care are charged separately. For an international stay, record the currency and ask about taxes and travel-related costs.

Check insurance separately

If you plan to use insurance, confirm coverage with your insurer as well as the provider. Ask about network restrictions, approved services, limits and your own share of the cost. Do not treat a provider’s willingness to check benefits as a guarantee of payment.

Compare like with like

Keep one line for the quoted program fee and another for potential extras. Ask about payment plans if affordability is a concern. Price alone does not establish clinical quality.
