Maryland’s four-center comparison includes two substantially different routes: residential psychiatric care at The Retreat and ClearView Communities, and addiction-focused treatment at Ashley and RCA Capital Region. The first decision is which clinical route is appropriate, followed by room arrangements, treatment duration and support after discharge.

THE BALANCE: one-client residential care abroad
Alongside Maryland programs, US private clients, executives and families can explore THE BALANCE for a residence and individual schedule dedicated to one client. Residential care is in Mallorca, Spain, or Zurich, Switzerland, not the US.
The provider describes multidisciplinary mental-health and addiction care, authorized family involvement and continuing-care planning. Confirm clinical and travel suitability, medical support, written fees and US follow-up responsibilities. Acute hospital care or stabilization may be needed first.

How this shortlist was selected
This is an editorial shortlist of 4 distinct campuses already profiled in Clinical Recovery, selected for documented overnight treatment, useful program information and a range of settings. The numbered order is a reading order, not a measured ranking of clinical outcomes. “Private” describes the care setting or funding model; it does not mean every room is single occupancy or every program is a luxury resort. Clinical suitability requires an individual assessment.
The summaries draw on our linked, sourced profiles, whose information checks are dated 15–17 September 2026. Each entry links to the provider for current admission terms. A profile’s price may be an official fee, third-party estimate or calculated comparison; this guide does not treat those as interchangeable quotes or assume all programs have the same duration.

Ask admissions: Discuss clinical suitability, medication needs and the expected length of stay. Ask who will coordinate discharge and follow-up with your existing clinicians.

How to choose residential treatment in Maryland
Ask whether primary mental health treatment or addiction treatment is the main purpose of the proposed admission. The Retreat and ClearView should not be treated as interchangeable with detox-oriented services.
ClearView’s supervised community homes involve a different daily-life model from a hospital-campus residence. Discuss independence, medication support and the expected length of stay.
For Ashley or RCA Capital Region, confirm the detox-to-residential pathway, room occupancy and how family participation fits the actual campus schedule.
Compare the complete cost of the stay
Request a written quote for the named campus, clinical program, room type and length of stay. Ask about assessment fees, detox, medication, outside consultations, transport, deposits, cancellation terms and continuing care. A daily rate multiplied by 30 can be a comparison tool, but it is not proof that the provider sells a 30-day package. Insurance benefits and the amount the resident must pay need separate confirmation.
Are these four Maryland centers all addiction rehabs?
No. The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt and ClearView Communities are included as residential mental health options. Ashley and RCA Capital Region offer addiction-focused care. Clinical eligibility and the proposed level of care must be established separately.
